How do I get my Shure SM58-LC mic to work through my computer?

I bought a NADY UIC-10 XLR-USB 2.0 interface cable but when I plug it in nothing happens. The computer doesn't seem to recognize the devise drive. Is this the wrong cable? Thanks. I'm a novice with this thing. Any help is appreciated.
