I want to live in USA: what is the best place/city?

seriously: i really want to go living to USA (i wanna go with my 7y kid) what's the best place for me to start new living? i live in Portugal, in an huge recession, but very peacefull and quiet. i'm used to that. i'm also used, to living in a place by the sea, with a mild weather, excellent food and warm people (whitout being hysterical and temperamental!)
