I have a USB microphone and using a laptop?

I have a pretty basic set-up. i have a samsun co1u condenser microphone it is a usb microphone and not xlr. It is surrounded by an SE electronics reflexion filter, the mic is mounted on a mic stand with a nady pop filter and shock mount. i have it ran to my laptop via usb cable. i have a toshiba satellite l305. it uses a realtek onboard soundcard that was standard. 4gb of ram, 300gb of memory. 64 bit operating system. I am using Mixcraft 5.1 to record from. On a vista laptop. My question is i am seriously considering purchasing an aftermarket sound card and a mixer. which would be more practical for my situation to improve sound quality an onboard soundcard or usb. And Why? Also I need a mixer that has a usb input. which is a good mixer for this type of set-up? Is there any other fairly inexpensive things i need to buy to make this sound alot cleaner. I am trying to go for semi professional sounding recordings for pop, hip hop, and rap music. anybody have any tips that can assist me in getting that premium sound. it sounds decent now, however i will cut the monitor on for the recording so i can hear myself thru my headphones "Behringher HPX2000" but theres a slight lag. i am trying to eliminate that. I believe a better soundcard and i belive i will need a mixer also. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sick of all the racial comments on the show called "are we there yet" on tbs. The ignorant mother is always making prejudice remarks against white people. If it was the other way around it would have been a big problem, but for some reason it's okay to slam white girls. The mother says to her friend about her daughter taking gifts from guys "I don't want my daughter to turn out like lindsay loham, paris hilton or bittany spears, ya know "white women". giggle,giggle, heehee, they think they are hysterical as they giggle it off. It's not the 1st time I've heard these racial remarks against white people & I'm sick of it. Does anyone know where/how I can complain about this? I don't believe that any race, creed, etc. should be able to get away with this kind of racial behavior. My Body is numb!? (PLEASE ANSWER)?

I was hanging out at home, doing nothing out of the ordinary, and I felt this huge pulse in my leg. It was getting irritating so I started rubbing it trying to make it stop. Pretty soon, my whole leg was numb, then my other leg went numb. And my feet! I called my grandma who used to be a nurse and she said she really didn't think it was anything serious and to elevate my legs. I tried and next thing I knew, the numbness was up my whole back! I'm so tired but I'm scared to go to sleep. I was afraid it might be tetanus because about a week ago I jumped off of a rusty swing and scraped myself on it. It broke the skin, but there was no blood. I've heard from some people that in order to get tetanus, you barely have to get a scratch, and from others that it has to be a deep wound. So I'm confused. Also, I've heard that it only takes a few hours for tetanus to occur from some people, but from others, I've heard it can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. I tend to over react and get a little hysterical about things so of course when my legs went numb, I went into panic attack mode and made everything a lot worse. Anyway, let me know what you think this is? And answer fast because its messing with my neck and chest and vision now. Thanks...

Can i connect an Ipod directly to a pro amp without a mixer?

Yes you can. Exactly the way you stated above. Except you should use a pair(2) of speakers instead of just one since the amp is a stereo amp. Basically all you're doing is adapting from your ipod's 1/8" stereo mini into two seperate 1/4" TS connectors in order to feed the stereo line level signal into the amp. Then simply hook up a pair of speakers(L/R) to the amp, turn your ipod's volume all the way down, power the amp on, set the amp gains at max, then just control the volume using the ipod. You won't damage anything. Unless your speakers can't handle the amp's full power and you carelessly turn it up too loud and blow out the speakers. I've hooked up my ipod to my Behringer EP2500(450Wx2@8ohm) in this way countless times. One thing I'd like to clarify is that in the audio world "active" and "passive" are the total opposite of one another. Active means that it requires an electrical power supply as in powered(built in amplification) speakers. Passive speakers do not have power supplies so they must rely on an outboard amp to power them. I assume you were referring to passive speakers. PA is not an acronym for "passive active" if that is what you were thinking. PA stands for public address. Another option you might want to consider is to buy a single powered speaker that has stereo inputs and a "slave" speaker output. That way all you need is to hook up directly from the ipod to the back of the speaker and then plug the speaker's built in amp into an electrical wall outlet to power it. If you want to upgrade to stereo sound later you can then buy a matching slave speaker that will hook up to the master unit. The added benefit of this option besides convenience and ease of use is that the speakers are already matched to the built in amp's power. Either way will work great. Good luck and party on.

I had a sudden surge of anxiety and emotion while driving home today and I don't know what to do about it. How to record stereo with a mono cord?

Ok so i bought a condenser mic which came with an XLR cord with three pins each side. One into the preamp and one into the actual mic. When i record it only records on the left ear, so i assume its the cord being a mono cord. Is there any way to record in stereo with this? Im using either audacity or mixcraft. like is there any way i could maybe make duplicates of the recording and just change the channels?

Why am i so scared of teachers?!!!!!!!!!?

You see, every time I see a teacher (usually male) I get so scared! I hide behind my friends or just run away. Sometimes when i can't run away i freeze, go pale and start to feel dizzy. I actually feel like crying when my sirs shout. I've never been shouted at because I'm a good student but I get scared anyway! Once when a teacher got too near me because he asked me a question and i was too scared to speak, i was about to faint! No, I do not like him! I love drawing and fantasizing. I love fantasy stories. My english teacher likes it because i'm really creative but my parents never seem to notice. What's the best set up for recording on a laptop with a condenser mic?

Can a person be referred to a psychologist from the Emergency Room?

My 24 year old brother has been suffering from panic attacks & irrational thoughts for the past 3 weeks. The anxiety is really getting to him and his depression is getting worse. He's is hysterical and wants to go to the doctor now. He has all the symptoms of OCD, something I have gone through too. It's Saturday and the doctor's offices are closed. He would have to wait until Monday to visit a doctor so he can be referred to a psychologist. He's considering going to the Emergency Room but we don't know if they can refer him to a psychologist. Can a person be referred to a psychologist from the Emergency Room?

Home studio recording help?

Alright, I'm basically starting out from scratch with some simple PC recording, but I have some experience. I have a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer, but using an RCA cable from the mixer to the mic input on my laptop sounded awful, because the sound card in my laptop is bad. Would a Behringer UCA202 sound card via USB fix that problem? Also what cables would I need to hook the UCA202 to my mixer? As for recording electric guitar/bass, would a DI box be a good idea? If I plug my guitar into the 1/4" input of the DI box, and the 1/4" output from the DI box to my guitar amp, and then the XLR output into the XLR input of my mixer, would that work? Also would using a DI box record the sound directly from the guitar pickups, or the sounds/effects from my amp? Or in a completely different direction, would I be better off just recording my cab with a Shure SM57? I have heard that a Shure wont deliver as good quality sound with bass as with guitar. Please give detailed answers, as I'm pretty new to this stuff. Thank You

in Wednesday's show, he was laughing a little like the Joker in Batman? Everytime some storyline is good in GH, they milk it too much, and then it spoils the whole affect. Anthony is a great Actor, and is hysterical to watch, but, getting to be too much with the laughing and faces. I swear it feels like a cartoon. Everybody has to know already that he is faking with being a forgetful old man. He laughs and laughs and then the next minute out of the blue, pulls out a gun and just shoots the annoying hit woman. At first I loved to watch his zany antics, but then it is getting to be too much. These writers don't seem to know when to quit when something is going good. I am surprised at myself for getting annoyed with him, as I loved him when he came back. But now it is like, what next? At the police station, when Jason caught Anthony hanging around the hit woman, Anthony got out of that mess by throwing Jason off with asking him to join his organization, now that was great without all the faces and laughter like a Banshee. This is a great actor with some wild material, so why turn it into a cartoon?

Phantom power won't work on certain xlr cables. Why?

I think that certain xlr cables won't run phantom power. Why would that be? Although, I haven't experienced it myself. People explain to me not to use certain cables with a certain mic because the cable won't run phantom power. I have a bunch of cables that have been rejected and this is one of the reasons explained to me when they come out perfectly fine with a cable tester. All three pins test fine. So what would be a reason why an xlr cable won't do phantom power????

What is the difference between Honda XLR and XR (fiber tank, Only kick model, No battery)?

I am hoping to buy a Used Honda XR today in the evening. it is a model that use to have a white tank but now has a red tank and RFVC engine (Embossed emblem on engine), This bike only has kick start and no battery at all. (PLEASE ANSWER!) Audio interfaces for under $200?

I have a question about recording. I have everything to record, I mean EVERYTHING, mics, mixer, computer, cables, adapters, guitars, amps, drums, and such. I want to record my drums in a better way. I had an idea to use my mixer to send certain drum mics to certain sub-groups. (4 to be exact) The snare is 1, bass in 2, toms in 3, and the overheads in 4. The mixer has four sub-group outs that I can use to record as SEPARATE tracks. This is the problem, I don't have an interface and I want to record as soon as possible. The interface must have at least 4 simultaneous inputs to record from, have a USB out, and preferably under $200, (under $150 if you can). Also it probably has to have software with it. I looked at this TASCAM US-144 MKII interface for a while BUT, it says 4 CHANNELS but it has 2 mic/XLR inputs and two 1/4" inputs. There's a switch to switch between either of those. So does this mean I can only record to inputs at a time from this??? It WOULD be perfect but this is my only concern, thanks for your help.

How do I get my audio from my laptop to a PA system.?

How do I go from either HDMI/3.5mmheadphone/optical cables to a PA system using speakon/1/4in/XLR cables. I really dont want to pay for an expensive mixer. I would prefer just some sort of box that converts the audio without any bells or whistles. I run my HDMI into my TV and an optical out into my surround sounds but I want to do some DJing and surround sounds arent exactly portable or reliable. What will give me the best quality. How to get a 4 month old to take a bottle?

How can I use my Roland SPD-S to trigger my acoustic bass drum?

MIGHT WANT TO READ THIS SLOWLY) I have a show comming up this next week and I wanted to use my SPD-S to trigger my acoustic drums(specifically my bass drum) for this show..I know I could probably read the manual and find out, and I will probably read it, I just don't have time. Basically what I got here is I got my mackie pro Fx mixer. I got my Mackie powered SRM 450 speakers plugged into my mixer. Now I have the SPD-S, and I have a DDRUM bass drum trigger. So I "believe" that I need to hook up the SPD-S to the mixer, and the trigger to the SPD-S. Honestly, I need someone to explain how to achieve this and to get the SPD-S to work with an acoustic trigger. I know their is some kind of process you have to work out on the SPD-S. I just dont know what to do on the SPD-S to make that work. and I guess to hook up the trigger I need a cable that has an XLR end and a 1/4 end? has anyone done this before?

Drum Mixer and Drum Mics?

I am thinking of buy mics for my drums, I want to stay pretty cheap because I am just going to do covers/basement recording, nothing special. But I am confused on a mixer, if I mic my bass drum, two toms, snare, and two overhead/condenser mics do I need a mixer with 8 XLR inputs? They usually come with 4 or 8 and I will buy a 7 mic set. If I only mic two toms I can double mic my bass drum. I will use all seven probably, the extra tom mic on the bass drum. What would be a good mixer, I need help because I know nothing about mixers. Also, condenser mics use XLR cable too right? Any advice about drum mics and mixers will be appreciated. Thanks.

Should I use RCA audio cables from my mixer to my audio interface or TRS cables?

I just bought an M-Audio Fast Track Pro and it has inputs and outputs of both TRS and RCA. I am using my Behringer UB1202 mixer and I usually run a 1/4th TRS to RCA cable from my main outs on my mixer to the RCA inputs on my Behringer UCA202 audio interface and from my UCA202 i connect another RCA to RCA cable from the output of my interface to the RCA input on my mixer. Now, I just bought this M-Audio Fast Track Pro sound interface and it accepts both RCA and TRS for input or output use, so Im wondering if it would be better to use TRS cables for everything and if I did would I get better quality in my sound and recordings? I just want as best quality as i can get out of this small setup I have going. Im choosing to not use the XLR inputs on the front because i will be using and recording more than two microphones. thanks to anyone who can and does help.

Torrent files never work?

occasionally i will get a torrent to work. But recently I tried downloading a torrent with 234 seeders and like 6 leechers (Just guessing) and it still wouldn't work. I've used a couple different programs like bittorrent, vuze, and transmission (I'm on an imac g5). On transmission, I will get an error after awhile saying it cant retrieve trackers. Here is my personal opinion, you might disagree and you might not. But here it is. So in my experience once two people start dating for the first time, they go through a period of infatuation. I installed TF2 and after 7 hours of installing everything seemed to be working perfectly but the online play. I clicked 'start playing' and it just says 'retrieving server information please wait.' I am recording from a Shure SM58 into a Peavey PV6 USB connected to my Mac. There is a static noise in the recording because I have to turn the gain up so much to hear the microphone. 2 weeks ago I was getting ready for bed, my husband was in the field (he is a farmer) it was approx. 11pm our daughter was in the next room watching tv. I layed down to start to read and all of a sudden I started to cry uncontrolably I reached for my cell and called my husband. I told him that for some reason I was freaking out and that I knew that I was going to die tonight, he told me that I wasn't. I said he knew what he had to do that he had to help me pray that I didn't know the prayer. He was confused as to what prayer I meant. I just kept saying that I'm going to die, he needs to pray with me that I couldn't remember the rest of the prayer. While in the room I was laying in the bed there was something standing at the door he was telling me that I needed to get out of the bed and onto my knees and start praying because he was going to cross over me and take my soul. I continued to get hysterical on the phone with my husband because I couldn't remember the prayer, I just kept telling him that It was time that I was going to die and that I could see death in the room, then all of a sudden I could see start to turn and I could feel that he was changing is course and going after my husband and then I really became hysterical I grabbed our baby out of her bed ran upstairs (still on the phone) screaming that someone had to help me with the prayer because my husband was going to die (my inlaws where upstairs) I kept screaming that they had to help me with the prayer because we are catholic and you had to say the prayer before you die. While crying and screaming hystarically all of a sudden the wind was knocked out of me and I went into shock. They took the phone from me. My husband came home immediatly and my son came home also. They put me bed and for the next few days I just felt out of sorts. I don't know exactly what happened that Friday night, but if that is a glimse of what hell is I am terrified. ( I was not intoxicated or medicated) I just need someone else to validate what has happened to me.

XLR are mainly use in high end audio Equipment and microphones. I use XLR cable for my pre amp to the power amp connection, and they are also expensive 1 meter for $150 each. There is no point in converting a multi channel signal to a stereo signal, beside that the optical connections is digital and XLR is a balance stereo signal. I have not seen any speakers with XLR type connection even in the very high end audio. Your speaker is more than likely a 1/4 inch plug, which is used on most commercial use like DJ. Hope this will help you out.

Home Recording Helppp!!!?

I am new to this and it's getting quite ridiculous and frustrating as ive tried what seems like EVERYTHING to get this operation to work. Im trying to record a demo. But basically right now I have a MXL 990 Condenser Mic, and a Art Tube USB Dual Pre. The MIC is going to the PRE via XLR which is connected via usb to my computer. Still no sound in any of the software ive tried (Audacity and Mixcraft 4). Phantom power is switched on and is 48 volts. I thought this was as simple as i could have gotten...Buttttt. nope. Somebody with some experience help! This is enraging.

Friend going to get sued? car accident?

How much trouble? Car accident? longish? Last night my friend and I *she was driving* were involved in a car accident. She was driving back from her friends house down by the beach (unfamiliar area to us since she lives about two hours away) around 2:30 am. As she was driving down this road, within speed limit when we saw a cop car light up behind us, they ended up pulling the car behind us over not us but I guess because my friend was so nervous we missed a stop sign coming over this crossroad. She ended up getting swiped on her back right tire by a car coming across. Scary ****. Anyway we ended up spinning out and she was freaking out crying. Her right tire rim is shot and there is a pretty nice dent but no other damage. Likewise the other drivers car suffered a crushed headlight on the right side and a dent and scratches localized to that area. We called the cops and the other driver and passenger seemed unharmed but the driver was pretty pissed understandably. When the cops got there he started screaming that we were speeding going like 60 (we were only going 35) and that he was disabled and in pain. They ended up taking him to the hospital in a stretcher. My friend talked to the cops but was pretty hysterical the whole time. She told them that she missed the sign and all that. But now I am really worried what is going to happen to her and this whole situation. I know she is at fault for missing the stop sign and she is really cut up about it. She has no idea what to do, or whats going to happen to her. The cops said they are sending her tickets in the mail but I am really worried that the other driver is gonna sue her for all shes worth, which is basically nothing, she is only 19 and has about 50 dollars in the bank atm. So I wanted to maybe get some insight on this situation, from someone who knows what is likely ahead or been in this situation before. 1. What are the chances this guy sues? And how much could he walk away with if the insurance company refuses to settle (for damage to car or his medical bills if he does end up being hurt) 2. What are the chances that her insurance (GEICO) doesnt cover any or all or how much they will cover? Any suggestions or advice is appreciated. Thank you.

(Im a teen) I am OCD. But only about certain things. Some more than others. I am anxious and stress about everything. I get very hysterical. One time my mom told mr i couldnt stay out as late as i wanted to and i got on the floor and threw a tantrum and couldnt control myself. I havr irrational fears. Many of them. I have wierd prefrences. When i unload the dishwasher i have to wait a certain amount of time after the dry cycle to do it because A) i dont like when the dishes are still warm when i put them up and B) if i dont wait long enough, the glass dishes still have this wierd waxy feeling and it makes me cringe to touch them. I have wierd preferences about my food. I like broccoli. If its raw i only eat it with ranch. If its cooked ill eat it with cheese. but not shredded cheese. it has to be liquid ragu cheese. sometimes i will eat broccoli if its cooked in a dish. I am paranoid. I have mild hypochondria (i cant spell it). Im intrigued by fire. People tell me im pessimistic but i think im realistic. I could name a few more but this is getting a bit long. Well according to my mother, these traits make me neurotic. I dont really understand what neurotic is. So am i neurotic?

I have recently bought a new capsule microphone. It is a M-audio Nova. I have to admit i am new to this may have jumped into it without doing my research first. I want to plug this into my laptop to record some vocals. I have bought a preamp (Art Tube MP) with phantom power (+48v). I have put the mic through this through XLR to 1/4" jack and then outputted it to my laptop with a guitar lead but i am not getting any input from the microphone. Is this due to needing some more equipment? Maybe a control interface with sound card or different leads? I would really appreciate some advice and please correct me on any mistakes i am making. I have a Sony HDR-CX160 and i am looking for a shotgun mic that i can use on a boom pole. I am new to film and audio throws me off. so here are some questions. If i use an XLR cable instead of a 3.5 mm cable will the cable pick up sound? i know the 3.5 mm cable does so i wanna know before i buy the XLR. Apogee One or Avid M-Audio Recording Studio?

I really dig the portability of the Apogee, but more expensive the Avid. On the other hand, Avid is a huge brand and the Fast Track has some sweet controls on it. Would that mean I can record vocal from XLR and guitar from the 1/4 inch simultaneously? And it comes with a form of Pro Tools. I will be primarily using Garageband, but I have no problem with learning Pro Tools. And what has the better quality?

Is there such a device where I can plug in 1/4" jacks and XLR jacks and the output is USB?

Ok so basically a few months ago I purchased a HTDZ HT-81 microphone. I have loved it up until today, when it unfortunately came apart in my hands. I was removing the supplied XLR cable from the microphone to put it away and the whole inside structure came right out resulting in the wires being torn from the circuit. I didn't use any excessive force and upon inspection it looks as if the glue used to hold the structure in place has weakened and caused it to slide out. The product does have a warranty but it's in Chinese which never helps. I have contacted the seller but in the mean time what are my rights? Should I be able to get a replacement? Thanks.

I have a body pack for a lapel mic made by sure that we were wanting to use for wireless computer, ipod, ipad audio on A/V carts at our college. In November 2009 i met my current boyfriend Tom, We clicked straight away and always done stuff with together as we had the same group of friends. Tom told me he liked me but i had just got out of a relationship therefore was not ready for another one. As the months went on we became best friends and spent many nights in together with our other two friends, we constantly text and called each other and it was clear we loved each other but i wouldnt allow myself to trust him. I stayed round his and all we would cuddle up together and watch movies, its was so different from any other relationship i had cause he treated me so good. Unfortunately around November time we began to argue alot, and i found out he had lied to me and was doing weed behind my back which i am against due to family issues. Tom knew this when we got together and he knew why so i couldnt understand why he didnt respect that as he was such a nice person. He began calling me name, pushing me around, and then crying and saying he was sorry. I was very confused at this time and developed depression and anxiety. I would suffer from panic attach, lack of sleep, low confidence, i was at my lowest i had ever been in my life. When i found out Tom was doing weed i finished it cause like i said i dont agree with it. Tom has a bad upbringing, his mum is a alcoholic who has been violent infront of him and towards him, and his younger sister died. He told me he would stop doing it and he did stop so i took him back, i blamed his behaviour on the weed. But unfortunately the behaviour didnt stop, he started saying stuff like your ugly, stupid, i dont need you, its over, that i controlled him and he could do better. I used to cry my eyes out cause i didnt understand why he was doing it, i felt so low but then when i would threaten to leave he would say he was sorry start crying and be really nice to me for a few days, calling me beautiful, and that im the best thing that ever happened to him. Sometimes i would retaliate to some of the nasty things he said to me which i know was wrong but any normal person would. Tom didnt have a job over this period of time and i would pay for his fags, nights out and anything i could pay for. Eventually after a few months of dealing with his emotions i finished it. I ignored his calls, texts and messages. After a few days we met up and i acted very confident, he tried everything to get me back and he was truly the Tom i fell inlove with, my best friend. We took things slow, and i constantly reminded him i would leave if he done it again, eventually we built our relationship back up. Tom got offered a job and everything was looking up, although the job didnt work out. We were planning on moving in together and i was so happy. But over the last few months his started going back to how he was, telling me its over, walking out on me, telling me he dont love me, i tried to ignore the behaviour as it didnt make me hysterical like it did before. I am now in �420 debt as i have had to support both of us became my new start date was delayed and Tom has not found a job. Ok, so for the last two months, all I've done is spot instead of my regular period. Last month i even had some odd, on and off spotting at the wrong time. As of today (06/06/11) I will be six days late on my period for this month. Since some time in mid april, i have had some serious mood swings, aversion to food and smells i've never had before, back aches, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, restlessness and a couple other early symptoms I saw my mother and other friends/family members experience in early pregnancy. I took five home tests, three came up positive. I went to the free clinic near my home and they sent me for a qualitative blood test at the local "hospital" (it's little more than an out patient center for physical therapy and a small emergency room with a lab). The blood test also came up negative. At 19 and about 3 years from even considering wanting a family of my own, I practically skipped out of the lab office when they told me that. Despite my total confidence in not being pregnant, all my symptoms have persisted and i've even gained a little weight in spite of the fact that I eat small amounts of food and make sure the food is (usually) healthy. The fact that I have crohn's disease also determines what I eat and I have a hard time gaining weight normally because of the gastrointestinal immune disorder. I also know it's not a "hysterical pregnancy" because that would require me to worry badly enough or want to be pregnant badly enough to convince my body that I am. I'm concerned something else is wrong, but my boyfriend is still really worried that I might be pregnant. So, anyone have any ideas??

I accidentally threw away my drivers permit?

You could plug any line level device into them. That could be something like an external analog mixer, a drum machine, an electronic drum kit, a keyboard, a looping device, an effects unit, and actually guitars and bass as well. Guitars and bass guitars do actually put out a line level signal, but we are used to hearing them after they go through pre-amps that are specifically designed for them, so while it will probably work, you may not like the sound of it. You could also use additional microphones by sending them through an external microphone pre-amp before sending them into the 1/4" line level inputs.

Yes, it sure does sound like BPD. Although, it is never diagnosed until youre 18. Annoying, i know. I suffer fro, BPD but im only 16 myself, i got diagnosed with it not long ago. Although as im 16, i wasnt diagnosed with BPD i was diagnosed with a younger version of it, for it to be changed to BPD when i hit 18. If it effects your life so much that you can't keep on going that way, and it effects everything you do then go to see a doctor and share your concerns. Good recording equipment/software for youtube videos?

Xlr usb/firewire interface?

Im a drummer for a few different rock bands and have spent a lot of time in the studio. I'm currently looking to setup my own studio but have a question on the equipment. I number of the studios I've been in have a single mixer with multiple inputs, then a usb cable from the mixer to the computer. Others have a mixer with a number of inputs and the same number of outputs that go to a box, with a usb or firewire line from the box to the computer. Visually, it appears that the box just takes those inputs and puts them on separate logical pipes inside the usb. The box itself does no mixing or signal processing other than to take the xlr or stereo inputs or whatever and put them on the usb line to the computer. This allows the computer to record each instrument on a separate track in the recording program. When each drum is mic'ed separately, each drum appears on a separate track in the recording program. Does anyone out there know what this type of box is called, who makes them, and where they are available for purchase?

My friend told me that the XLR inputs/outputs of the sound system(surround speakers) of the venue has male and female XLR inputs (3 pins). They were usually used for mics during events. How hard is a 300 yard swim?

I know lifeguards in their 50's and 60's so this really isn't that hard once you get your stamina up. There's no trick to not running out of breath easily. You just have to be swimming at *least* 500 yards every other day as fast as you can. That will build endurance. As odd as it sounds, you need more weight on you. That weight needs to be muscle though! So you need to swim a lot and use drills to help you build up your strength. For the brick you just use 1 arm sidestroke to bring it back.

having worked many years as a videographer, my suggestion is to use both. i know thats a tough economic decision, but here are the pluses. Having 2 cameras means you have a backup in case one craps out on you. Another good reason for a second camera is to get alternative angles, or a cover shot that allows you to move the closeup camera. a third reason is to use one as the main audio recorder, that way you don't have to hang mic cables off the walk-around camcorder. If you have a first class video editor, it will be able to mix HD from the NEX and anamorphic widescreen from the DVX without missing a beat. And if the product is DVD, there will be no resolution loss either.

Rode NTG-2 hum noise into HMC70. How to fix?

My computer and Mic (SM58) have hum issues. But if I hook my mic into my camcorder direct out doors, there is no hum. I sometimes use My mixer, which is mic(s) to mixer to camcorder, a low hum is produced if I turn on phantom power. XLR cables are good for getting rid of cross interference for instrument and mics. TVs, computers and the like, they are not that good at eliminating noise.

He wanted to name it black but decide to name it white but then named it Bleach because white was too plain. Bleach is a pretty cool and unique name for an anime if u ask me. U should try watching Code Geass if you havent. You will love it after the first 3 episodes. This will also help to know about other anime if you are trying to create your own. Did you know Bleach almost didnt make it into a manga until Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragonball and also credited for inspiring almost every action manga/anime) wrote a letter to Tite Kubo telling him to never give up. Bleach is great but it has hundreds of filler episodes but it has a incredible twist that you will never see coming somewhere in the next 40 episodes and the fighting will get better soon. Why isn't cubase picking up any signal from my mic?

I recently bought the yamaha audiogram 6 usb interface which came with cubase 5. I also purchased the audio technica AT2050 and have it connected to the interface via an XLR cord. I can hear the mic in my headphones which are plugged into the interface, but cubase won't record anything with it, let alone pick up any sort of signal from it. Any ideas?

Am i being haunted by a demon?

Well i think i am being haunted by this demon, it has been following me mostly my whole life. Now my name has 3 meanings, one of which means "devil spawn" and i am mentally insane and i have manic depression, but i do not think this is just in my head. It is worst when i am at my dad's house visiting. One night it called my name right before i fell asleep and then at some time in the night it screamed at me to wake up. I thought it was just a nightmare and tried to sleep but when i went to lay down i saw a shadow and then i threw me down onto the bed. I was hysterical and frantically called my friend in a rush of tears. The next day my sister was asking me all about it. And my friend, who is also mental...but she agreed that it wasn't just me. I was afraid to go to sleep and i also suffer from monophobia, the fear of being alone. I can't even take being near the stairs because once when i was little i heard steps behind me. Thinking it was my brother, i thought nothing of it. Then i felt something give me a shove down the steps. I took the tumble and when i looked up, there was nobody there. i was about 6 when this happened. I am only 13 now but since then i have developed a state of psychosis, monophobia, and manic depression. I am also still paranoid and was then as well. As my parents are divorced, i travel a lot to my mom's and my dad's. I think it follows me because at my mother's house, I was playing on my DSI and i saw a shadow on the door creep closer, but when i looked, it receded. I keep having night terrors about that one night when it attacked me. I have gotten to a state of praying for protection at night, but when i do things like this, asking people for help, it worsens. I put a bible by my bed but when i was in our library room i touched it an i heard a voice rasp "NO" then the railing on the stairs rattled. I dropped the bible and ran away. that night i had my brother put it on my night stand for me. It did nothing, in fact the phenomenon got worse. I feel like when i ask for help from the forums, it feels provoked. when i do this, it scratches the walls. when i pray at night it bangs the walls and scratches them. One night i was sleeping, wearing a low tank top, as it was summer. I awoke the next morning to find scratches on my arms, neck, shoulders, ankle, and on the tops of my breasts running to my throat. I have horrible thoughts that it could, and may kill me. I am scared so much, but nobody takes me seriously, as i am insane, but they don't take me seriously when i say its a demon, in fact, my brother taunts me saying "was it the ghosts?!" DSLR video and XLR adapter help?

I recently had an XLR to 3.5mm adapter stolen, so I ordered a new one off of B&H. I bought a Neutrik female XLR to 3.5mm adapter, and today I attached it to my camera and microphone. When I tested the audio, my Canon 60D was not recorded audio through the microphone but from its integrated mic. Did I do something wrong? Is it the wrong type of cable? It's just a normal female XLR on one end, and on the other end there is a 3.5mm with 3 black bands.

How to get a condenser mic to record through USB?

I have a CAD GXL2400 mic, and a cheap audio interface i got from ebay. It converts XLR into USB and provides 48V power. When i plug the USB cable into the computer, nothing happens. Nothing pops up or asks to install drivers. And I don't know how to set up recording for audacity, or preferably FL Studio. PLEASE HELP!

My daughter (2yrs old) woke up screaming last night. She was hysterical and I couldn't console her. I tried to console her for a good 40 minutes and then I gave up because I thought she was having her usual freakouts and being unreasonable and bratty (like she usually is....) I left her in her room while she cried and I went back to bed. She kept screaming and screaming and screaming and then finally she feel asleep on her own (probably because she exausted herself right?) I did a little reasearch online this morning and I found out that she might be having night terrors and now I feel horrible for having left her screaming by herself. I feel like a horrible mom today. Was I wrong to have handled the situation this way? Did you have any night terror issues with your kids? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Not sure what to do about a relationship problem?

So here's the thing.... I've been ridiculed for the way I dress my entire life to the point where I would throw up at the thought of having to choose an outfit in the morning and come home hysterical the days I could force myself to go to school. This and a principal who was not understanding and didn't care to help with my problems led to me dropping out of high school. So heres where my boyfriend comes into the picture, we have been dating for 2 years and are very serious about each other and he's always said he loved when I wore tight things and recently that "Any clothes you like, I will love on you." So a few hours before going to his graduation that I was supposed to be graduating in as well, I asked him what color heels I should wear and he said, "Please don't be dressing like a hooker." He knows I was upset and aplogized but when we talked about it later, I felt like he really meant it... I have always enjoyed getting ready to see him and looking completely gorgeous and now I've been trying even harder because I'm feeling less and less confident so this completely broke my heart to the point where I am so embarassed with myself that I can't talk to anyone, I don't want to go anywhere, and I'm trying to find excuses not to go anywhere that people will see my clothes. What would you count as an adaptor cable?

I am organizing audio cables at my workplace. XLR, quater inch, RCA ect. I am a student in an a/v office and my goal is to make our cable rack easy to navigate, even for noobs. I am trying to differentiate from what I would call a "standard cable" and an "adaptor cable." Obviously cables that go from XLR or RCA to a 1/4 inch plug is an adapter. But I also have some XLR Male to XLR Female cables that are long and short. Should the short cable be included as adaptors or should only cables that convert the plug type be considered adaptors?

Its fine. My daughter refused to sleep in a crib at night though she slept in one at daycare, until about 3 &1/2 months-she slept in a rock and play which is very similar to the Maclaren I think. Now at 5 months she sleeps in the crib all night no problems. I wouldn't sweat it-so what gets you a good night's sleep and keeps him comfortable.
