It isn't going to hurt anything. sometimes they buzz when you aren't sending a frequency which means you aren't playing on all the channels or it isn't connecting. The difference is the quality of the output. If you are just messing around it doesn't matter. you can make it buzz when you touch the two parts of the1/4 with your finger or to something else that conducts. check your o rings inside, visually to make sure they are not damaged from plugging and unplugging.
