What is wrong with my cat?!?

He's about eleven now, and a persian. Anyways, he is realllyyyy annoying lately. Whenever I'm home, he doesn't leave my side. At night, he wakes me up with his hysterical meowing, and he sleeps on my pillow, right by my face. He also does that weird thing where he 'paws' my shoulder. He was always a normal cat...basically a lazy cat. Is there something wrong with him? Should I shut him out my room?
