I have a Droid X and I want to retrieve some deleted text messages. Can anyone help me.?

What is the Difference in a SD card (which is in a Droid X) and a SIM which is not in a Droid X. I want to know can I retrieve deleted text messages (that was deleted by mistake) off a SD card and or can I get a SIM card for my Droid x/
