Which is better - a USB microphone or a microphone with an XLR-to-USB adapter?

Recently I bought a Shure C606 microphone, mistakenly thinking I would be able to connect it to my laptop somehow. If I were to buy an XLR-to-USB adapter for this microphone, it wouldn't be able to be too expensive, so is it more worth my while to get an adapter or just buy a USB microphone instead?
